This exhibition features the work of Lidia Stanchenko, a journalist and photographer who has spent years capturing the subtle and profound beauty of daily life in China. Since moving to the country in 2018, her camera has become a tool for personal exploration, allowing her to process the emotional and cultural complexities of living abroad. While her professional life centers around telling stories through words, photography has offered a quieter, more introspective way to connect with her surroundings. The images in this collection are deeply personal, reflecting the photographer’s journey of adaptation and discovery. Far from professional assignments, these photographs capture the quiet yet striking moments of everyday life: bustling streets, tranquil temple grounds, fleeting commutes, and solitary walks. They offer a view of the world that is both intimate and reflective, finding beauty in the ordinary and the transient. Through this body of work, the photographer shares a narrative that words alone cannot convey. It invites viewers into a world of quiet moments, fleeting exchanges, and layers of connection hidden within the everyday. This is a portrait of China as seen through a personal lens, revealing its complexity, beauty, and the profound in the ordinary.
